From first node to shared spec in minutes

Modudraft is designed to match how engineers actually think about systems — not how diagram tools expect them to work.

01

Drag nodes from the palette

The left panel organises 190+ tools into 22 archetypes — API gateway, queue, database, cache, and more. Drag any component onto the canvas. Each node carries an archetype that defines its shape in abstract mode and its logo in real mode.

02

Connect with typed edges

Hover any node to reveal its handles, then drag to another node to create an edge. Pick a protocol label (HTTPS, gRPC, AMQP, etc.) from the preset list or write your own. Edge colours follow the protocol group.

03

Toggle symbol ↔ logo with M

Press M (or the toggle in the toolbar) to flip every node between clean engineering symbols and real vendor logos. Nothing moves — your layout stays intact. Use symbol mode for architecture reviews; real mode for stakeholder presentations.

04

Group with boundaries

Draw a boundary region around any set of nodes to create a logical grouping — VPC, team domain, microservice cluster. Nodes inside automatically become children of the boundary and move with it.

05

Sequence & DB schema tabs

Switch to the Sequence tab to map request flows between participants. The DB Schema tab reads every database node from your architecture and lets you define its columns and relationships inline.

06

Share instantly

Click "Copy share link" in the toolbar. The entire diagram is compressed into the URL hash — no server, no account required for the recipient. They open the link and get a live read-only canvas.
