Common questions

Do I need an account to use Modudraft?

No. The full canvas works without signing up, and everything saves to your browser's local storage. Create an account to sync diagrams across devices. The MCP server needs a Pro account (or the free trial) and an API key.

What does "local only" mean for the Free plan?

Your diagrams are stored in your browser's localStorage - they persist across sessions on the same device, but won't sync to other devices or survive clearing browser data. Export a .modudraft file to back them up.

Can I self-host Modudraft?

Not yet. If self-hosting is important for your team, reach out - it's on the roadmap.

How does the MCP server work?

The Modudraft MCP server lets Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client read and modify your canvas. Read the MCP docs for setup instructions.

Can I switch plans at any time?

Yes. Upgrade or downgrade at any time. After a downgrade your diagrams are untouched for 30 days. Then only your most recently edited cloud diagrams, up to the Free plan limit, stay active; the rest move to the trash and are permanently deleted 30 days later, so export anything you want to keep or re-upgrade.
